Finding Your Next Philips TV On Price Comparison Websites

February 15, 2011 by Gareth Hoyle Leave a Comment

Price comparison websites seem to be all the rage at the moment, with regular advertisements across all media platforms. The question that many people continue to ask is; do they work and what, if any, are the benefits of using a price comparison website?

The answer to the question is; yes, price comparison websites do work! Why? Three simple reasons;

Time – A price comparison website saves you a lot of time and energy. Remember when you use to trawl the phone book, Google, or even the high-street for a particular product? Now you can visit a price comparison website and be done in a matter of minutes!

Money – This is one of the most important reasons why price comparison websites work – you save money. How? Instead of buying the first product you see at the first price you see, you can now search a price comparison website and check out all the stores selling your product, and see who offers the best price!

Choice – Another important factor is choice. Choice of what price to pay, what postage prices, and what product!
Philips LCD TV’s

Philips LCD TV’s are one of the leading brands of the best TV’s available in the 21st Century. Whether you’re interested in having a small LCD, or a huge 40+ inch TV, the answer is a Philips LCD.

The problem…

…with Philips Flat TV’s is the price. Head on over to your local store and you’ll see exactly what I mean – the prices of these high quality TV’s mean that it’s difficult to consider purchasing unless you’re rich! Thankfully, price comparison websites have come to the rescue and offer a service that instantly searches for the specific product you have entered, and returns with a list of all the stores who stock this product and at what price.

Now What?

Now you can sort by price and quickly find the cheapest Philips Flat TV’s! No more time-wasting, no more accepting the first TV you find at extremely high prices – now you can purchase the Philips Flat TV you’ve always wanted, at a price you never dreamed of, all thanks to a price comparison website!

Keeping Your Toddlers Happy in the Car

February 14, 2011 by Gareth Hoyle

We have seen increasing numbers of holidaymakers this year that are heading to a UK destination for a break as opposed to travelling overseas. If you intend to travel by car for hour after hour, then you are probably advised to prepare yourself well, particularly if you are bringing young children with you on the journey. It can certainly be difficult to travel with a toddler; your baby becoming a toddler brings new challenges as far as travelling is concerned.

Maintaining the Routine

You may be able to avert any possibly difficult tantrums from your toddler if you keep your routine close to normal, particularly as far as meal times and sleeping times are concerned. Whilst leaving early in the morning may seem logical if you are set for a long journey in the car, this can actually be the worst time to start your journey with a toddler. You are advised to spend time playing with your child in the morning to prepare for the extended trip in the car. Kids that are toddlers frequently take a nap in the afternoon, making just after lunch time the best time at which to start your journey, after everybody has had something to eat and drink.

Happy Sleeping

You should also remember the item that is used by your toddler to fall asleep. Being fussy, kids will often need a certain ‘snugly something’ to get to sleep. This could be a favourite toy, a blanket or perhaps a juice beaker. A shaded spot should also always be provided for the car seat of your toddler. You are advised in advance to buy a sunshade so that your child is protected from direct sunlight through your car’s windows during the journey. Your child may become restless if they have direct sun beaming through the windows at them, and as a result, they may find it difficult to sleep whilst in the car on the trip.

Smiling and Entertained

Bringing lots of toys is the key as far as keeping your toddler occupied on the journey is concerned. They will soon find the same old toy boring, so try giving him or her one at a time. At the point that they no longer seem to be occupied for any period of time by the toys, trying playing some audio tapes or music – a range of audio tapes are available to purchase that are child-friendly, particularly for car journeys to ensure that your little ones remain occupied.

There are other essentials that you’ll need to remember in addition to keeping your toddler happy on the journey. You will require a tax disc, MOT and insurance policy that are all up to date. It is easy enough to find the best deals on car insurance online, meaning that you can arrange it before you start your journey.

5 Drool-worthy Classic Cars

February 14, 2011 by Gareth Hoyle

Thanks to the models that are fortunately well looked after by their owners, in addition to detailed manufacturing, many classic cars are no less beautiful now than they were on the days some years ago when they were first made. If we could afford to purchase what we rate as the five sexiest classic cars around, then there’s no doubt that we’d be looking for classic car insurance, although it is arguably their very exclusivity that makes them so desirable overall. Read on to find out which five illustrious cars we have picked.

Aston Martin DB5

Aston Martins are, in any case, frequently hailed as among the sleekest supercars around, but the one that is widely regarded as the very best is the DB5.1 Built to improve on its predecessor the DB4, the model was in production from 1963 until 1965. It wasn’t long before the Aston Martin DB5 had acquired film star status, thanks to appearances in such James Bond films as Tomorrow Never Dies, Goldfinger and Casino Royale. There isn’t a die-hard fan of classic cars out there who wouldn’t want a DB5 as part of their personal collection, and indeed even a model version would be good enough for many.

Ford Mustang

By March 1966, Mustang production had surpassed the one million mark, which indicates that the car was clearly popular prior to this point, but it was in this year that the car’s reputation was to become unparalleled.  The Mustang’s most recognised strengths were its power and performance, although its looks and status were also very important. The coolness of this Ford made it sexy, and there wasn’t a single owner who didn’t want to maintain a cool and young image, which explains why this awe-inspiring car is still loved today.

Chevrolet Camaro

As the Mustang’s popular rival in the muscle car and pony car category, it was hardly possible to avoid having the Chevrolet Camaro on this list. Journalists were told that the Camaro was “a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs”2, and indeed this was the hope for the car in the marketplace. With plenty of power and a characteristic square body, this Chevrolet is an American automotive classic.

Bugatti 57S

Although this is the Bugatti that is best known, there is one, extremely rare 57S variant. Only 17 Bugatti 57S Atalantes were ever built, which makes it one of the most desirable classic car ownership prospects. One of these 17 cars made the news in 2009 when it was discovered in a well-preserved state in the lock-up garage of the late Dr. Harold Carr near Newcastle, which led to it commanding one of the highest ever values for a car3.

Jaguar E-Type

We wouldn’t dare omit the Jaguar E-Type from our list, which was voted the most beautiful car ever in the Telegraph.4 Having been in production in the 1960s and early 1970s, this sports car continues to inspire cars of a classic appearance today. Its lustrous body and exquisite curves are sufficient to make any car fan drool with envy. But what is it about this car that most makes us proud? It’s the fact that it’s a pure beauty of a British car.

Four Reasons for a Trip to Historic Leeds

February 4, 2011 by Gareth Hoyle

There are many fantastic reasons to visit Leeds if you are fascinated by local or world history. One of the best reasons to visit Leeds is the range of old buildings that the city is home to. These include some of the most widely recognised landmarks such as the imposing Town Hall on The Headrow, which was built between 1853 and 1858 to a design by architect Cuthbert Broderick. Landmarks also include the ruined Cistercian monastery of Kirkstall Abbey and the Victorian Corn Exchange, also designed by Brodrick.

Leeds is also home to many historic walks, making it the perfect city to visit if you would like to combine historical appreciation with some light rambling. Such walks include the Leeds Bridge to Temple Mills historic walk, which involves strolling down Briggate, passing the former merchant’s house of Queen’s Court as well as the former jewellers, Dyson’s, along the way, until you reach Boar Lane. You can walk through here to reach Holy Trinity Church and the Griffin Hotel, with other attractions on the walk including the Mill Hill chapel where Joseph Priestley, the man who famously discovered oxygen, was minister. Also to be discovered on this walk is the Leeds Liverpool canal which was built in 1816, as well as, Temple Mills, where flax was spun from 1817 until 1830.

Don’t forget that Leeds is also home to an eclectic range of museums and galleries, meaning that regardless of the historical period or subject that interests you, you will not be disappointed. Discover the history of medicine at the Thackray Museum, from life in Victorian Leeds to the medical advances of more recent times. Even the building that houses the museum is historic, as it is the former Leeds Union Workhouse that dates from 1858. Alternatively, head to Leeds Art Gallery, where you can discover the history of art from Auguste Rodin to Paula Rego, or to Leeds City Museum, where you can see archaeological items such as a Roman floor mosaic or the Leeds Mummy.

To make your stay in Leeds a truly memorable one; how about an overnight stay in a historically significant hotel?

Among these landmarks, is the Queens Hotel Leeds , which is an elegant Art Deco Grade II listed building, constructed in 1937 for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS). It is a four-star hotel that is also home to the city’s only executive floor.
