Telemarketing Data

October 2, 2012 by James Lewis

Having access to good telemarketing data is much more important than many firms think. A surprising number of firms confine themselves to a narrow list of marketing techniques. Many do not consider telemarketing as relevant for their product or as effective. However, this is in fact not the case. Telemarketing, when done right, is an extremely effective way of promoting a company, product or service.

Quality of Telemarketing Data is Vital

However, for a telephone marketing campaign to be effective you need good telemarketing data. Simply going through the telephone directory is not only illegal it is extremely ineffective. You will find yourself speaking to people who are not only not interested in buying your product, but, in some cases, also people who have no actual need for your product. Without a doubt, they are not going to buy from you.

However, if you use a targeted list of phone numbers you could sell a lot over the telephone. A targeted list means that you are speaking to people who have bought these products in the past and have an actual need for them in the future. If you sell insurance you can even get the timing of your call right, by annotating your telemarketing list with the date their current policy is due to expire.

Wise firms collect the telephone details of their clients and seek their permission to call them with news or special offers. They then use those lists to sell their existing customers new products or ensure they continue to buy products they have purchased in the past.

However, restricting yourself to just using this source of data is not the best approach. If you want to grow your sales, you need to speak to people who are interested in the type of product or service you offer, but who are not yet buying from you.

Where to Buy Telemarketing Data

Fortunately, you can buy telemarketing data. However, you need to be sure of the quality of the data you are buying. Some unscrupulous firms sell out of date data. The best approach is to search out a well-established data firm and buy only from them.
