An Overview Of Flights to Alicante

February 16, 2013 by James Lewis

You can fly to Alicante from practically anywhere in the UK. Flight times range for 2 hrs 40 minutes to 3 hours depending on where you fly from.

There is no train station at the airport, so you will need to travel to your holiday destination via coach or taxi. Alicante itself and the nearest train station is only a 15-minute drive away.

However, most people who fly into Alicante are taking a package holiday, so do not have to worry about onward transport because it is included in the package. Benidorm is only a 30-minute journey, but other resorts such as Altea are a little further at about 40 minutes.

If you want to fly to other parts of Spain from Alicante, you can easily do so. There are direct flights to Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Ibiza and many other Spanish cities.

Resorts near Alicante

For people looking for a beach holiday Alicante is a great airport. There are dozens of beautiful holiday resorts and towns strung out in both directions from Alicante airport. Many package holiday firms offer deals that include flights to Alicante. They put people up in resorts such as Benidorm, Albir, Villajoysa, Moraira and El Campello.

However, increasingly people are choosing to stay in the city of Alicante itself. The city has two beaches, several five star hotels and there is plenty to see and do in the city.

When to Travel to Alicante

Because Alicante is in the South of Spain the weather is always quite good. Even in the winter, temperatures reach around 17C during the day. At night, they fall to around 7C. Despite these high temperatures, local people can be seen walking around in coats, but for British tourists these temperatures feel warm, so shorts and a t-shirt are fine.

The area around Alicante is a good destination for those looking for a little winter sun. However, because passenger numbers are lower in the winter some UK airlines do not fly there during the winter. Flight prices rise during the summer and are at their highest during the school holidays; therefore, many people avoid flying to Alicante at these times of the year.
