The island offers mostly three and four star accommodation. Something the local government are trying to change. To encourage people to build more five star facilities they have recently put a halt to further lower star hotels being built. Holidaying on Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is the second largest island of the Canary Islands group. It is famous for its eclectic mix of landscapes, which produce a wide array of climates. This strange mix means that there is plenty to see and do if you love the outdoors and wildlife. There is even a small area of jungle on the island.
Every year 2.2 million tourists visit the island. Because the north is cooler, most people visit the south of the island. They do so because of the beautiful beaches and surrounding countryside.
