How well are you feeding your pet?

December 3, 2010 by Mary Smith

The care and feeding of a pet is well worth looking into, no matter how old or how young the pet is. This one aspect of owning a pet will affect much of the pet’s life:  pet insurance premiums is but one of these.

There are a number of items that comprise a good diet. Look at the ingredient labels of the food you buy your furry friends for information on what to buy your pet and what to shun in favour of healthier food. This will help them to lead healthier, longer, and more active lives. Food ingredient labels should list the ingredient that comprises most of the item, first, and it should list the rest of the ingredients in descending order.

Some foods have special ingredients that help to fulfil functions that are necessary in any pet’s diet. These functions can only be performed by these foods or food groups. There are also a couple of other things that pet owners should consider – these things can make a big difference to the pet’s health and to the pet health insurance that they are paying for every month.

Water is one of the most important aspects of any pet’s diet and this is something that some people may forget or overlook. The pet may become dehydrated if they do not ingest enough fluids on a daily basis so try to keep as much water around as is possible.

All animals need fats in order to live healthy lives.  This is not something that pet owners should skimp on – pets need fats to have bushy tails and shining eyes. This does not mean that your pet health insurance will never pay out; it will still be there for the more serious, life-threatening emergencies – Fluffy decided to investigate a ball and ended up chewing it.

Choose foods that are age, race and size appropriate. It will not make much sense to feed a cat food that should, by rights, go to a dog, and vice versa.

Some of the foods that are the most suited to animals are the ones that will ensure their pet health insurance plan will be a worthwhile complement to the other things you have decided to get them. These foods are typically based on animal-based protein groups and offer pets a far superior form of nutrients.

But do not leave out fibre, which should be as important in an animal’s diet as it is in a human’s. Do this and your pet will thank you profusely.

Cat rescuers rely on cat tags for identification

December 3, 2010 by Mary Smith

The great number of cats and other pets that go missing every year is of great concern to all the parties that are involved: the animals themselves, their owner, and the people who find and rescue them. It does not matter what the age of the animal is; this is a traumatic event for all involved and it is something that something such as a cat id tag can help to prevent.

This is something that all animal rescue places care about: it becomes easier to deliver the animal to their proper owners should they go missing and someone – generally a rescue worker – finds them. These type of cats generally have a far higher rate of being reunited with their families than other pets who do not wear cat id tags for ease of identification.

This lack of tending to the needs of the animals significantly worsens not only the rate at which they’re reunited with their families but it also presents difficulties for the person who finds the pet. All of this can easily be avoided by finding a cat id tag for the pet to wear that they will enjoy wearing.

Ensure that the cat tag be durable, easy to clean, and lightweight. Its durability will ensure that it will not need to be replaced often, its light weight will ensure that the pet will not even realise it is carrying something of importance around its neck, and tags that are easy to clean can make life simpler and easier in the event that it goes missing.

You may want to consider adding the possibility of a reward for the pet’s safe return should they go missing. This will hopefully provide the person who found the pet with more impetus to return the poor pet to you and your family.

Something else to consider is to keep a spare cat tag handy. This will be convenient for when the original tag is lost and will save you having to find a new one quickly. You will be able to continue caring for your pet with absolutely no interruption in your daily routine.

Doing all of these things will ensure that the chances of reunification with your pet will be high if they ever go missing. It is, however, important to note that the most important aspect of the cat tag should be safety, and not whether it is pink, red or yellow.

Pets’ personalities affect which pet tag they should wear

December 3, 2010 by Mary Smith

All pet owners know that their pets, same as humans, have distinct personalities. This should also not surprise the rest of us: pets are incredibly smart animals. This is not only something to celebrate; it is also something that decidedly impacts the pet tag buying process. There are many different pet id tags to choose from and the type of personality that a pet has will determine which of the many tags out there will suit them the best.

Some pet tag suppliers have their own categories in which they divide these pets. Some of them are only slightly pampered, others are ‘cool cats’ and the third group are the dare-devils of the lot who prefer and sometimes demand to be outdoors as much as their owners will allow them to be.

This should make it easy for the person who is buying the item to find an id tag for a pet that is happy no matter where they are, inside or outdoors. Pets who are pampered will of course only expect the best and it is with this in mind that pet owners should order their little ones an id tag that will fit in with their personality, gender and colour.

The pet will feel more at ease when they’re wearing an id tag that reflects what type of animal they are. The pet owner will also feel more at ease when their beloved ones are happy with the items they chose for them.

Choose the colour and choose the design of the pet tag. There is an overabundance of options that pet owners face, no matter where they’re buying the products from. Be sure to buy from stores or suppliers who give you as the consumer an option in the type of product that you’ll be getting from them. You also want to know that you’re buying only the highest quality of pet id tag this should last you a great number of years and there should be no reason why you need to constantly buy another one, except, of course, if you wish to spoil your pet with a great variety of pet id tags.

It isn’t always possible to get a one-of-a-kind pet tag but it can sometimes happen. And that should make Fluffy extremely happy. The way we treat our pets is a direct extension of our personality.

Which bedroom accessories can complement any bedroom?

December 3, 2010 by Mary Smith

Most people have more than a few items in their bedrooms. The bed is the staple to any bedroom but it is the bedroom accessories that make it a pleasant environment in which to sleep, read and relax after a long day’s work.

But there are a number of these items that all contribute to the best possible sleeping environment. Should anything be left out, then it will affect the way that the room is perceived by the people who sleep there. It might also mean that the people who sleep in the room will not enjoy it as much as they would enjoy it in a room that is stocked with as many of the necessary items as possible.

It is important, however, to buy only the bedroom accessories that complement the room and the attitude of the person or people who sleep there; do not buy too many items out of a sense of duty. It is a far better idea to rather buy the items that you would feel pleased to have around you for the next couple of years. This will make it a pleasure to walk into your bedroom, no matter what time of the day it is.

Cabinets

These cabinets are besides the ones that might come pre-built with most of the newer types of houses. Use these cabinets for extra display purposes: display photos of your loved ones or use it to

A rug

This is one of the bedroom accessories that most of us appreciate the most on cold winter nights. They also break the monotony of the room that you spend most of the day in.

Closet and shoe organisers

Organising a room is no mean feat but these bedroom accessories make it a lot easier to do. Choose something that can easily hang out of sight: this ensures that it does not take up too much space.

A mirror

A full-length mirror can work wonders but not all rooms are large enough to accommodate something like that. Try to get a mirror, even if it is only a small one: this will help you to plan the best type of outfits for work or for play every day.

A bedside lamp

Bedside lamps can assist especially at night when most of us are too lazy to get up to switch off the main light. Use such a lamp to read the latest thriller until the early hours of the next morning.

How good is your pet’s ID tag?

November 1, 2010 by Mary Smith

Now that many more people are buying pet ID tags for their pets, there are many shops that sell these products to cater to the demand that has increased in recent years. Not all of these companies sell the best quality ID tags; some sell ID tags that can only be described as sub-par in quality.

One of the things that any pet owner who is contemplating buying an ID tag for their pet should consider is that of the split ring. This little part is one that very many pet owners tend to overlook. Not everyone considers that an ID tag is only as good and strong as the split ring that it is attached to.

The worst case scenario is that the ID tag falls off because the split ring was bent out of shape or because it fell off the collar. This can have tremendous repercussions for the pet and for the pet owner alike. These are possibly a step up from the ‘s hooks’ that some companies use; however, there are benefits and disadvantages to nearly anything, and these items are no exception to this rule.

You want to ensure that the pet ID tag is fastened to the collar with something that will remain in place, and will not slip out – at inopportune moments or situations. The best way to ensure this is to check the tag frequently. Once a week may be enough for most animals, though some animals just do not justify such regular checking and once a month may be enough for them.

Find out from your supplier what type of fastening they offer and demand only the very best that you can get. Your pet’s life may depend on that one little piece of wire at some stage.
