The Top 10 Places to Live to Commute to Manchester

For many people, working in a city such as Manchester is a fantastic opportunity as there is a wide selection of jobs on offer there, however, living in the city is not always favourable as it can often be quite hectic. For the vast majority of people, living outside of the city is much more favourable as there is plenty of space and you’re away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

More importantly, often enough houses for sale are significantly cheaper outside of the city, and as long as you’re within commuting distance, you can continue to lead a normal life. With a variety of locations offering a vast selection of houses for sale, it’s easy to see why these locations are becoming increasingly popular with commuters…

Warrington, Cheshire – standing on the banks of the River Mersey, Warrington was founded by the Romans and was historically part of Manchester. A journey taking just 32 minutes, Warrington to Manchester is easily commutable by car; however, there are a number of train services which are ideal for commuters.

Altrincham, Greater Manchester – the market town located in Greater Manchester is located around 8 miles south-west of Manchester city centre. The journey takes just over 20 minutes and is easily commutable by car or train.

Stockport, Greater Manchester – the large town located in Greater Manchester is just over 6 miles away from Manchester city centre, taking just under 20 minutes to travel by car.

Oldham, Greater Manchester – lying amid the Pennines on elevated ground between the rivers Irk and Medlock, Oldham is approximately 7 miles away from Manchester city centre, a journey that takes just under 20 minutes by car.

Rochdale, Greater Manchester – just under 10 miles away from Manchester, Rochdale has a vast selection of houses for sale, ideal because it is only a 30 minute trip away by car.

Bury, Greater Manchester – lying on the River Irwell, Bury is a town that is located in Greater Manchester. Just 8 miles away from the city centre, there are a number of houses for sale in the town that are within approximately 20 minutes commuting distance of Manchester by car.

Macclesfield, Cheshire – the market town of Macclesfield is located just 18 miles away from Manchester, a journey that takes approximately 35 minutes by car.

Bolton, Greater Manchester – close to the West Pennine Moors, Bolton is located just 10 miles away from Manchester and is surrounded by several smaller towns and villages which together form the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton. The journey between Bolton and Manchester takes 30 minutes by car.

Cheadle, Greater Manchester – a suburb in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester, Cheadle is located just over 8 miles away from Manchester, a journey that takes only 20 minutes by car.

Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester – Ashton-under-Lyne has a variety of houses for sale due to the economic downturn, making it an ideal place to live and commute to Manchester. The journey takes only 17 minutes by car, and is located less than 7 miles away from the city.
