Is festive debt increasing the need for fast home sales?

February 17, 2011 by James Lewis

People sometimes need to make a fast house sale in Yorkshire and elsewhere for a range of reasons. They may need to change the area in which they reside because of a new job or for some other reason. Alternatively, they might need to sell property in Yorkshire to help ease their level of debt.

Figures produced by Bright Grey indicate that festive spending may have stretched people’s finances. In turn, this could mean more individuals need to make a fast house sale in Yorkshire.

Across Britain as a whole, the firm noted that around 5.5 million adults may have overspent this Christmas. It claimed that consumers in the UK increase their typical monthly outgoings by 65 per cent in order to meet the costs of the period over December 25th.

Meanwhile, 45 per cent of their salaries go on funding their lifestyles at this time of year.

Indeed, 11 per cent of Britons will fall into debt because of the amount of money they spend on presents, food and other forms of celebration, Bright Grey claimed. Some such people may opt to sell property in Yorkshire in order to improve their financial health.

Proposition director at the company Roger Edwards said: “Christmas is a strain on nearly every household’s finances. However, even with a little planning throughout the year consumers will get to enjoy what Father Christmas brings them and they will not have to worry about the credit card bill or bank statement the postman will deliver.

“Planning ahead for not only Christmas, but the future can help every household [in] those unexpected events or those fun festivities.”

Many consumers are still experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the tough economic conditions brought about by the credit crunch. Meanwhile, the government’s austerity package has made the situation even more difficult for many.
