Any sort of fleet can be difficult and expensive to manage. Whether you have a team of sales reps travelling the country, or truck and van drivers transporting goods and making deliveries and pick ups, managing them effectively and efficiently is hard. So any area where you make life a little easier and save money in the process is bound to be of interest to fleet managers and financial directors alike.

When it comes to fuel many organisations are still making a very basic error by not issuing their drivers with fuel cards. Instead they have a very laboured system of individual expense claims. Once a month some poor person in accounts has to sift through a huge mountainous pile of receipts, check mileages and make payments. Honestly, why bother? With a fleet fuel card scheme you can this tiresome administration out of the process completely. In essence you just have one centralised account that drivers bill fuel to, which you can then settle accordingly.

It’s not wonder that fuel cards are becoming more and more popular. Not only does this type of fleet fuel card scheme save valuable company time. Time that be reinvested more productively into other areas of the business. But these schemes also save huge amounts of money. By signing up to a scheme you can get much better rates for your petrol and diesel. Because you’re bringing your fleet together as one to get a better deal. Instead of individual drivers all doing their own thing, you can negotiate as one whole entity. Hence the great deals to be had. If you’re business is fairly sizeable, then the savings could potentially be massive. It’s a win win situation. Getting started is easy and straightforward and the cards have plenty of built in safeguards to prevent them being abused in any way.
