What to Look For in a Good Projector

December 6, 2011 by Nick Bella

Projectors are becoming more and more popular. They offer several advantages over “traditional” TVs, such as portability and size of picture. A projector delivers more “bang for your buck” than a television, and so many are choosing to play movies or computer games via modern digital projectors.

Like all tech, not all projectors are created equal. You will find that choosing a projector can be a difficult process, as, quite frankly, we don’t know as much about
the technology as we do about things like TVs. There are, however, simple things to look out for, when choosing a system for home usage.

“Lumens” essentially means brightness. It is an important thing to consider, when choosing a model. If the image isn’t bright  enough, then picture quality will be
undermined. In a room that has increased brightness you will obviously requite a projector that has greater lumens.

Just like with a television, besides size, picture quality is the most important factor to be considered. Arguably, the biggest determining factor to picture quality is contrast ratio: the higher the contrast ratio the better. Briefly, and in layman’s terms, a high contrast ratio means greater difference between the darkest colours and the lightest. So, with high contrast ratio blacks are black rather than grey, and your picture will not looked washed out.

You might know “contrast ratio” from when it is applied to TVs. In fact, lots of the terminology translates to projectors. So, “colour accuracy” is also something to look out for. Without good colour accuracy, reds will not look red, greens wouldn’t look greed – you get the picture.

There are lots of other things to look out for, such as zoom and connectors, and in a lot of cases your perfect model will depend on what you’re using it for, and where, whether it is in a small space or a larger area.

Advertising on the Move

December 6, 2011 by Nick Bella

Finding effective ways to advertise your business, group or even something such as a band is not always easy. Not only does cost need to be weighed up against potential return, but the flexibility of the route you choose also needs to be taken into account.

One of the cheapest ways to get exposure, no matter where you go, is to get a t shirt print run. Not only are you and anyone affiliated to you able to then spread your name no matter where they go, but if you make your t shirts attractive and interesting enough, you may well also be able to sell your t shirts directly to consumers, not only creating extra income, but also getting far more people doing your advertising for you at the same time.

The majority of advertising avenues offer you very limited scope and a very limited time frame. Even adverts only continue in magazines, on radio or on TV for as long as you pay for them. On the other hand, with a t shirt print run, the money you invest in advertising may well still end up showing returns months and years down the line.

T shirt printing can be as unique, surreal or as obvious as you like too, allowing you far more creative freedom in your choices whilst meaning that even something as simple as writing your name can be an instant advertising campaign. Of course, you can also use teasers, interesting pictures, logos or any other approach to attract attention to your business and since printing can be found so cheaply, you may well find that you can create numerous different designs – and in turn reinforce your brand in as many ways as possible – without it costing your business, group or band much at all.

Leg injuries may lead to compensation claim

December 6, 2011 by Nick Bella

Leg injuries can be hugely debilitating and those who suffer them as a result of the negligence of others often take forward compensation claim cases.

One individual who may do this is Andrew Grist. He was working at Kenbury Wood Waste Management Centre when he was struck by a reversing telehandler vehicle. As a result of the impact, he sustained a detached calf muscle, broken bones in his foot and one of his toes was nearly severed.

Following the incident, he had to take six months off work. Any personal injury claim he makes may help cover the costs he incurred during this time.

The vehicle involved in the accident had a blind spot because of its size. However, no device such as a reversing camera was fitted to it that could have prevented the accident.

Speaking after the hearing, HSE inspector Simon Jones said: “This incident could easily have resulted in a fatality at the site. All employers should ensure that vehicles they provide for use by their employees do not have blind spots.

“Site operators should ensure that only vehicles that have had blind spots eliminated are allowed to operate on their site.”

Unfortunately, Mr Grist is by no means alone when it comes to suffering physical harm while at work. Many people around the UK are subject to accidents and injuries each year, and some of these go on to make a compensation claim.

While taking forward a personal injury claim cannot undo the physical damage and emotional trauma of the incidents, it can help individuals achieve a sense of justice and can provide them with additional funds to cover their expenses. These days, there are many superb lawyers available to take such cases on and people can avoid risk by making the most of the no win, no fee arrangements on offer.
