Claiming Asbestos Compensation

February 17, 2011 by Gareth Hoyle

These days we are much more aware of asbestos and the damage that it can do to us. We know that we shouldn’t be exposed to it and we know to get experts to deal with it if for any reason it is in a building we are working on.

However this wasn’t always the case and unfortunately many years ago people were exposed to this damaging material time and time again. This has left them susceptible to disease and long term illness.

Although it doesn’t make the illness better, many people in this situation are entitled to claim asbestos compensation. However it can be hard to know where to start with this and the routes you need to go down in order to get the money you deserve.

Don’t worry though because that doesn’t mean that you should miss out on asbestos compensation. Instead what you need to do is contact an expert company and get their help and advice. Don’t forget that as they are experts in this field they will have bundles of experience. This means that they can listen to your story and get a good gauge on whether your claim is likely to be successful. If you find that it is then they can help you take it further. They will know the steps to take and also be able to help with things such as filling in paperwork and contacting the right authorities for any information that they may need.

This means that you can go for asbestos compensation in a simple and easy way. You don’t have to worry about the stress that sometimes comes with claiming financial compensation in this way. Instead you can sit back and let someone else take care of the whole thing for you. Often these companies don’t even ask for payment until after your compensation claim is complete so you don’t even have to worry about finances and how you are going to raise the money to start your claim rolling in the first place. It really is that easy and straightforward.

Get more out of break time.

February 17, 2011 by Gareth Hoyle

Right it’s break time. Good stuff. Time to go grab a coffee and a snack. A little oasis in the day. Time to read the paper or have a little catch up with friends from other departments. The only snag is the canteen is all the way downstairs. And in this office that means ten flights of stair or the cranky old lift that never seems to come. Most of the “break” gets eaten up going to and fro to get a coffee. Which isn’t ideal to say the least. Not exactly much of a break is it? A tiresome trudge to fetch a drink. It takes ages. But it doesn’t have to be this way. There’s a break room on this floor. What’s wrong with a vending machine? OK you’re not going to get a world class latte, but modern vending machines can do a pretty decent cup of coffee. Not to mention soft drinks and snacks. Such an easy solution. They’re easy to install and you don’t have to worry about the refills and servicing. It’s all part of the contract. It might even make a nice little profit. Who knows? It’s not rocket science is it? Plus we’d probably take shorter breaks too. Maybe that’s the best way to sell it to the boss. Please install vending machines and we’ll all work harder. I promise! Everyone wins with a vending machine. We get better breaks and we aren’t away from our desks so much. But I’m not the boss and he doesn’t take kindly to ideas that aren’t his. So maybe that’s the trick. To persuade him he thought of it. Got to be worth a try. Hopefully it’s not like this where you work. You might have an easier time of it than me, but think about it. It’s the perfect solution for your floor or department, especially if you work somewhere with a huge office.

How Exactly do Energy Efficient Light Bulbs Work?

February 17, 2011 by Gareth Hoyle

If you’ve recently received an electric bill from your business electricity supplier and have decided to make some cuts to bring your overhead down, you should put energy efficient light bulbs on your list. Installing them in every room, especially if you run a large office building or warehouse, is a move that could save you a significant amount of money on your electric bill.

Most people have heard that before, but they don’t know exactly how energy efficient bulbs work. If you’re in the dark on the subject, perhaps we can enlighten you as to how these newest technological advancements in lighting work. Here are a few facts about energy efficient light bulbs.

Energy efficient lighting is fluorescent, not incandescent. What that means to you is that they require less electricity. The equivalent of a sixty watt incandescent bulb in the fluorescent scale only requires nine to eleven watts. That type of power difference can save you a significant amount of money on your electric bill over the life of the light bulb.

Fluorescent lighting works using mercury vapors and phosphorus; incandescent lighting uses a filament which requires more electricity to reach the brightness necessary to light up a room. With energy efficient lighting, electricity lights the vapor in the tubes, an action that requires less power.

Despite starting out as an option you couldn’t use with dimmer switches because of a tendency to flicker, energy efficient lighting has improved to a point where it is now available for most lighting options. It’s also available in both bayonet and screw fittings. Ask at your local hardware store if fluorescent lighting is available for what you want to do.

Energy efficient lighting uses mercury, so it needs to be disposed of properly when you are done with it. It also burns longer and uses less electricity so it’s better for those who want to conserve energy and save money. The average cost of an energy efficient fluorescent bulb is slightly higher than a standard incandescent bulb, but because of its long life, it turns out to be more affordable.

The light provided by energy efficient bulbs is actually brighter and better for your eyes than that given off by standard light bulbs. It’s used most commonly in office environments, but is also a good choice for home lighting.
