December 21, 2012 by James Lewis

If you are looking for a holiday which has a fantastic mix of relaxing beaches and cultural activities combined with plenty of action this winter, then look no further than Essaouira is Morocco. Not only is there plenty of relaxation and culture to be had but winter surfing in Morocco has never been more popular and Essaouira is the place to experience it first-hand.

Holidays where you spend all of your time relaxing on the beach are great when you need a break from the stresses of life but us Brits need to shake it up a bit and get more active on our holidays. After all, nothing blows away the cobwebs like a spot of winter surfing in a beautiful location.

Perfect Climate

Whether you are a regular surfer or are just looking to try it for the first time, the climate in Morocco could not be better. Many surfers simply cannot stomach the freezing cold British seas in the winter months and this means that they surf more but, by booking a fantastic winter getaway to Essaouira in Morocco, they can surf until their heart’s content in clement seas.

With the average winter temperature being 21C, it certainly is a much better prospect than taking the plunge in the cold, grey seas of the UK.

Kitesurfers

Kitesurfing in Morocco has seen a surge in popularity of late. Essaouira beaches are perfect for kitesurfers of all levels and there are plenty of local amenities, such as shops and surf schools around to make life easier for kitesurfing enthusiasts.

Windsurfing

A steady stream of crosswinds can be found on the beaches of Essaouira which means that windsurfers can get out on the water most of the time. Experienced surfers will find that places like La Grotte and SidiKaouki are the perfect places to hang ten.
