Turning Your Guest Bedroom into a Hotel Suite

February 16, 2011 by Gareth Hoyle

There are many great ways of turning your guest bedroom into a hotel suite. A suite in a hotel or other public accommodation is distinguished by having multiple rooms so that there is more space and therefore, more furniture than in the average hotel room. A hotel suite includes a sitting or living room and one or more beds and bedroom fixtures, and can also include dining, kitchen and office areas.

To begin with, you could create the necessary space in your guest bedroom by knocking through an existing wall, or you may already have a bathroom that is directly accessible from the bedroom. Room can also be created for a hotel suite type area by removing the things that are unsuitable and not needed, such as any children’s toys, the laundry basket, any cups under the bed or the ironing pile.

Another great way to create a spacious, uncluttered guest room is through the use of fitted bedroom furniture. Fitted furniture items such as wardrobes bring many benefits. They are made to measure for the room for which they are intended, meaning that they can offer the maximum amount of available storage space while eliminating the awkward corners and alcoves that would make it difficult to efficiently use conventional, free-standing furniture. Fitted furniture not only reduces clutter, but has a smart appearance in its own right, with smooth lines and no ugly gaps, creating a professional hotel suite look.
Ingeniously designed fitted furniture frees up space in your guest room that you can use for smart, hotel suite features such as flower arrangements or plants, bedside lamps, desks or coffee tables, works of art or a decent sized TV with DVD player. It may also allow you to introduce a bigger bed so that you could potentially accommodate more people.

You could invest in a new bed for maximum hotel suite luxury, or alternatively, in mattress toppers. These give the illusion of a deep, soft mattress without having to spend a huge amount of money. Invest in Egyptian cotton sheets that are perfectly ironed, and also have a 100% Egyptian cotton plain white duvet cover with a fluffy duvet. Also purchase lots of pillows in a variety of shapes and sizes. The more pillows you have, the more your guest bedroom will look like a luxurious hotel suite! You could complete the look by laying a patterned quilt over the edge of the bed.
