Wall cladding and protection from weathering

January 13, 2011 by Mary Smith

Wall cladding is essential if you want to protect the walls of your home from the kind of damage that weather conditions such as wind, rain, snow and UV exposure cause. Wall cladding can come in many different styles and can be manufactured from many different materials, but it all acts to minimise damage to your home.

Although wall cladding can be made of a vast array of materials, the most common are wood, brick and plastic. Wood and brick are more traditional materials, but in recent times plastic has become a lot more popular, due to the fact that modern plastics have the ability to be at least as strong as both wood and brick, but with many advantages too.

One of the most common types of weather damage is caused by water. If water gets into the structure of your home, it can cause serious – and expensive – damage. It is very important that your cladding is water proofed. Wood can be especially troublesome to water proof, since you need to perform regular maintenance on it to ensure it doesn’t absorb moisture.

Damage can also occur due to heavy winds. Cladding exists to provide a strong barrier against wind, and if it wasn’t there the structure of the building would most likely become seriously compromised. Sometimes, if a storm is particularly bad, the cladding itself can become damaged and may need to be replaced. When this happens, only certain parts will need replacing most of the time. If you use plastic cladding, this will be a quick and relatively easy process.

At Bliby Plastics, we provide high quality, strong and extremely durable plastic wall cladding for any type of building. Our wall cladding is guaranteed to have a long lifetime, so you don’t need to worry about weathering damage.
