Pet insurance and peace of mind

November 1, 2010 by Mary Smith

Peace of mind is not something that anyone of us can put a price tag on. Most of us want to ensure that the big ticket items will be OK if anything catastrophic happens: the car,the house, and perhaps the contents in those. So we take out insurance against any eventuality. We want to know that, should something happen, we would be covered. The insurance company will pay out an amount and we will be reimbursed up to that amount.

The same thing applies to our pets and the insurance that we decide to get them. There is no way we can determine how much our pet is worth to us, except when the pet is no longer around, and then it is too late.

Pet insurance takes the hassle out of the guesswork. It works by assigning values toillnesses and veterinarian costs. The monthly premium helps to reduce much of the stress that pet owners associate with having a pet. These can be things such as the stress of not knowing how big a bill from a veterinarian will be or it can be the stress of wondering whether the pet’s life can be saved should they get into a fight with a bigger animal. The pet owner knows that, as long as they pay this one monthly payment, their pet would receive the best care when they need it.

Pet insurance, for most people and their pets, is generally worth the money, time and effort spent on educating themselves on how the policy works and what the exclusions – if there are any – are.

And peace of mind has no price tag so the monthly premium may be a small amount to pay for knowing that should something happen to the pet, they will be taken care of in the best possible way by people who have been trained.

Online shopping in South Africa

November 1, 2010 by Mary Smith

The majority of people who access the internet in South Africa are still not aware of the wonders that await them: online shopping. But those who do know what’s available are keen to explore all the websites that can give them what they want at the prices they are willing to pay.

There’s more to life than merely ordering flowers and ringtones online; order anything from an iPod to a bush buggy and have it delivered to your home. Or send a gift to your mother who lives in another part of the country. Companies that are involved in online shopping in South Africa know that their customers want only the best items at the best prices. This is why many of them source their items from wherever they have to, whether it is overseas or locally, to provide only the best possible buying experience.

The main draw card to using online shopping in South Africa is that many retailers give free delivery, though some attach conditions such as a minimum order to this offer. Some retailers, however, offer it without attaching any conditions such as a minimum order.

Some other advantage is the fact that it really makes life so much easier. Instead of getting into the car to drive to the local mall, which, in some instances, can be 200 kilometres away, you can just open up your favourite browser and buy what you need online.

This means that you can do all your shopping at any time of the day, no matter how much petrol you have left in your tank. You’ll know exactly how much you will charge to your card when you are doing online shopping in South Africa: all websites have a calculator that shows you the total rand value of your purchases. This will help you to stay within the limits that you set yourself.

But the most important bit of information is that people who shop online in South Africa are among the most protected consumers worldwide. The number of acts that protect the offline consumer is still playing catch-up with the laws that govern everyday online shopping.

Online poker rooms: are they fair?

October 31, 2010 by Mary Smith

This is a question that plagues newbies and more experienced players alike, though it may be more accurate to say that people who are new to online poker rooms are generally a little bit scared of the room’s intentions.

The question may seem innocent at first but not until one considers that it really may be unfair: it assumes that online establishments may have something to hide and want them to prove that it is not so. The truth is that online poker rooms are not that different to the ones we need to drive to. There are a few differences but generally, they all operate under the same principles and laws.

The truth is that there will always be a minority of players or rooms who do things that do not meet the requirements for ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you’. No industry can escape from this rather inconvenient fact, though there are always plenty of efforts by industry players to eliminate cheating in gambling, and especially in online poker rooms.

The problem, however, is not the rooms but we as players. We as humans have the ability to weed out all the normal instances and instead focus on the irregularities. This is just what our brains do. For everything. And then some. So it follows that whenever we’re faced with some irregularity we will try to make sense of it. This is the way of the world and poker players are not an exception to this rule.

These rooms would be in on one of the biggest conspiracies of our modern age if they were all rigged.  The proper question that we should ask is why would any of the many reputable sites around be in on a conspiracy such as this one?

How soon should you get pet insurance cover?

October 31, 2010 by Mary Smith

This type of question is one that nearly all pet owners ask themselves at some stage. For most of us, pet insurance cover is one of those purchases that we are not fond of making: it cuts into the budget we spent so much time on, allocating money to nights out and to trips to the Maldives.
