The development of the inkjet printer

February 15, 2011 by James Lewis Leave a Comment

The first inkjet printers ht the market in the 1980’s however their prices didn’t become affordable enough until the 1990s for the humble home user.  However there are claims on the actual technology surrounding inkjets and their printer cartridges dating back to the seventies when Canon claim to have developed what it coined as ‘bubble jet’ technology. The story goes that an engineer inadvertently discovered this by touching a syringe filled with ink with a soldering iron. The force of the heat caused the ink to shoot out of the needle and this new printing method was born.

There have been some great developments in the technology for inkjet printing.  You can now buy inkjet printers that produce print outs that have a photographic quality second only to those produced in a photographic lab. Ink itself has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years and huge developments have been made by companies such as Canon, Epson, and HP who have brought out regular advances in printer ink technology.

There are two main advantages to using inkjet rather than laser printers. The first is that colour documents are superior and secondly they are cheaper in the main.  This has made them attractive to home users and in the 1990s, due to the affordability and photographic quality of print outs they became very popular.

However running costs of inkjet printers can be higher than laser jet printers. Ink cartridges will print fewer pages and need to be changed more frequently. However the advances in technology, performance, quality and usability ensure they remain the first choice for home users.

Here at Internet Inks we stock an extensive range of printer ink and toner cartridges. For your entire ink cartridge needs you can be sure to get the best quality products and advice.

Extend the life of your ink cartridges

February 15, 2011 by James Lewis Leave a Comment

In these challenging times it’s important to make cost savings where you can. You can extend the life of your printer ink cartridges by following some simple tips. Rather than rushing in to replace a dirty or clogged up inkjet, by carefully cleaning it you can continue using the ink for a little longer. Here is a checklist to keep your ink cartridges clean:

1.Before you start cleaning the printer cartridges check the make of printer ink. HP for instance tends to state the print head on the ink cartridge however other types of ink cartridge can be different. Look on the manufacturer’s website or printer manual to double check. The information advises you where the print head is that you need to clean.

2.To clean the head apply warmed distilled, bottled or filtered water to a cotton bud. Clean the nozzle plate with the cotton bud taking care to clean the middle of the ink cartridges. This is the area that meets with the nozzle plate. Avoid touching any of the copper plated parts as they can easily damage. Change the cotton bud often until no more debris is found.

3.Next remove the printer ink from its holder. If the cartridge has a printer head on it run it quickly under hot water.  Always allow the ink cartridges to dry out before you put them back.
Always clean ink cartridges before you put them in the printer and after some time of use. Make sure you never use tap water as this can cause damage to the printer ink. If you have a bad clogging soak the printer head overnight and then allow them to dry out before reinstalling.

At Internet Inks we have a wide range of printer ink and toner cartridges for all makes of printers and will be happy to help with all your print needs.

Tips To Make Homework As a Fun For kids

February 15, 2011 by James Lewis Leave a Comment

We all remember homework and how little fun it was at times, so anything we can do to make school and homework time a little bit more exciting for our kids, the better.

Getting them into a routine is a good idea in terms of homework as it becomes part of your child’s daily regime and will not seem like such a chore. If a child knows that they sit down and do their homework straight after school and then it is their own time after that, it becomes a natural way of life to them.

Making school books and subject folders more bespoke and fun also helps to make homework a little more enjoyable. Whether it is wrapping folders in posters or paper, or using custom stickers to brighten up the work books, anything that is more appealing to look at will always be a bonus.

Custom stickers are great because they can also be swapped amongst friends so they can be taken to school and shared amongst peers. At Brainwaves our range of custom stickers are perfect for using at school as they are bright and bold and can be a talking point amongst friends.

Stickers can also be used as a kind of reward when a certain piece of homework has been completed. They act as an incentive and encourage children to finish their homework and aspire to do better as they know they will get stickers when they have done well.

Incorporating learning into everyday life is also a positive step to making homework fun. The theory behind this is that your child will not actually realise they are learning. If they are learning French, have a French breakfast, if learning Geography, go on a day trip. Homework can be fun and easy to learn and you never know; the adults may enjoy it too.

Simple Things To Make A Child’s Birthday Special

February 15, 2011 by James Lewis Leave a Comment

Children love birthdays and the younger your child is the more special their birthdays are. We all remember the excitement of getting our presents and having a day with our friends which is full of fun, games, jelly and ice cream, so we want our own children to have good memories too.

It is important that we make our children enjoy their birthdays as much as possible and at Brainwaves we know what brings a smile to a little one’s face. Everybody spoils their children a little bit; however, the fact is that it is the simple things that children enjoy the most.

Think back to how many times you have bought a present for a child and they have been more interested in the wrapping than the actual present. Bright and sparkly things are always a hit with youngsters and our school stickers are perfect for many occasions, including birthdays.

Stickers are a good alternative to birthday badges, as they are obviously safer and there is no danger involved, especially if the children are quite young. Stickers are also a lot more versatile as they can not only be placed on the birthday girl or boy as a badge would be, but can also be placed on invitations, cups and even on all the presents.

Other things that make a child’s birthday special are cakes and games. Entertainment does not have to be expensive or excessive. Think about the traditional party games such as pass the parcel and musical chairs- all great games that do not cost the earth and will be a guaranteed hit with the children.

Lastly, no children’s party would be complete without a goody bag. All you need to include is a simple toy, a piece of cake and some stickers or crayons. A reminder of the happy day and a good memory all round.
