4 Advantages Of Ergonomic Office Furniture

July 12, 2011 by Mary Smith

Ergonomic office furniture was designed with the very intentional purpose of reducing stress to various parts of the body. The wrists and hands are put under a lot of stress every day especially if an employee works at a computer all day long. Having the arms in the wrong position exacerbates this stress and can quickly lead to pain and eventually to repetitive stress injuries. These mean reduced productivity and they can also lead to potentially costly mitigation against your company if you don’t educate employees and provide more beneficial alternatives to standard furniture.

1 – Increase Productivity

Extra comfort and fewer niggling pains will mean a worker’s productivity will rise. They will be more inclined to sit and slog it out and the prospect of sitting in an ergonomically, comfortably designed office is a much more appealing one than the thought of a day of office related pain.

2 – Improve Attendance

The last thing anybody wants to think of when they wake up is having to sit at an uncomfortable desk, use a poorly positioned chair, and to effectively work through the pain barrier by lunch time. Small niggles, though, can quickly become major injuries and this will see your attendance records drop. The longer you leave it before changing over to ergonomic office furniture, the worse the problem is likely to get.

3 – Ergonomic Cost

The cost of ergonomic chairs was once extremely prohibitive for the typical company. Items like chairs and desks would cost considerably more than standard design furniture and while there may still be a slight difference in some cases, the disparity has largely been redressed. You can obtain great quality office furniture that will keep your employees happy and healthy for very little.

4 – Prevent Costly Injuries

When considering your office furniture budget you may want to consider the cost of litigation. The modern way is to seek mitigation for virtually any accident or injury and if an employee suffers a repetitive stress or strain injury through no fault of their own then they are entitled to seek compensation from you, as their employer. Spending a little extra on ergonomic furniture can prevent this from happening.
