How can you design a jewellery website?

August 5, 2011 by Nick Bella

Whether they buy trendy earrings for their favorite dress or choose a diamond engagement ring, most women love jewellery. Although some men may wear jewellery, most online jewellery stores cater to women and their love of these adornments. Jewellery websites should be both attractive and user-friendly to showcase the products. For designing your website you can go through web design UK. It makes web designing quite an easy task.

A variety of jewellery websites that are already out there should be looked at. The differences and similarities in this genre should be noticed. Decide the ones you prefer and what elements might be useful to keep in mind while designing your own website.

Try to figure out what style or image you want to convey. If you are selling inexpensive fashion jewellery, then your site should have a different look and feel than a website selling expensive diamond and gold jewellery. Your website should express the style of the jewellery, whether it is trendy or classic, sophisticated or casual. Choose colors, fonts and graphics that convey your marketing image.

Using a template for your website should be considered, especially if you are new to web design. Templates are often cheaper. You can keep all the elements of the layout, or change the ones you want to customize. Since the initial layout is complete, it can make your job a bit easier.

Take high quality photos of the jewellery. Invest in a good quality digital camera so your pictures look flawless. Also, take several photographs from different perspectives and distances, so your customers can zoom in and out to see details of your jewellery.

Keep it simple and beautiful. While elaborate introduction sequences and gorgeous graphics may give a good first impression, bad overall web design may keep your customers from buying a product. Make sure your customers can easily order their products, from filling out the initial forms to choosing shipment options.
