Spoiling Yourself This Christmas: Buying a Classic Car

January 19, 2011 by Mary Smith

If it has been your lifelong ambition to own a classic car now is the time that you should act fast and purchase one before it is too late. The classic car market is booming like never before and with prices continuing to rise, you will have to start your search soon if you’re hoping to get a good deal. With so many iconic classics to choose from, which classic car will best suit your needs? Here’s a look at some of the most iconic classic cars that are becoming increasingly popular with enthusiasts:

Italian Cars

What do you think of when you think of Italy? Great food, slick fashion and a once fantastic football team? There is one thing missing…their cars! The Italians have always been well known for their cars and if you’re hoping to jump on the bandwagon and purchase one of their classics you’re going to have to act fast. By far one of the biggest Italian icons is the Ferrari 246 Dino. A car that melted its way into the hearts of collectors, the 246 Dino remains one of the most desirable Ferraris; however, prices are on the rise.
British Cars

If you’re a fan of British cars then without doubt you have to purchase a Jaguar E-type. A car that is recognised everywhere in the world because of its sleek looks, long nose and short tail, the E-type is still as popular today as it was upon its release. Prices continue to steadily rise and if you’re hoping to purchase one of these beauties you can expect to pay £50,000 upwards for a good E-Type roadster.

Sticking with British, if you’re on a budget then the car for you is the MGB. Available as either a hard top or a soft top, the MGB is tough, reliable and spares are easy to come by, meaning this car is perfect if you’re looking to cover miles come rain or shine.

Remember, purchasing a classic car is about more than just the initial outlay of the car. You have to think about spares and repairs because classics are not always as reliable as the cars of today. Don’t forget that if you’re looking to purchase a classic car you will have to think about classic car insurance. Classic car insurance is typically based on a valuation of your car, with a premium being calculated accordingly.

The Five Best Reasons to Move to the Country

January 19, 2011 by Mary Smith

Each year, large numbers of people choose to move to the country as a means of escaping the pressures and dangers of urban life. The following are some of the best reasons to buy apartment in the country.

The most obvious benefit of moving to the countryside is the large amount of space to explore. There are great opportunities for cycling and long walks as you explore your surroundings. Here in the UK, we have a number of attractive national parks, including the North York Moors, the Lake District, the South Downs and Brecon Beacons. The countryside also frequently plays host to a variety of other outdoor activities, from climbing and watching wildlife to horse riding.

Enjoy Fresh Air

If you move to the country, you will also enjoy plenty of fresh air. The air in the city is polluted with the toxins that are emitted by the high volume of traffic and other sources. In comparison, the city has much less traffic and its air is free of such primary pollutants as particulates, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and volatile organic compounds.

More Relaxed

The countryside is also associated with a slower pace of life than the big city. On the whole, people living in the countryside are much less likely to be employed in the kind of high-pressure jobs that are so strongly associated with urban areas, many of them perhaps being retired. This contributes to an improved community spirit as people have the time to get to know each other better and help each other out.

The countryside also tends to be much more peaceful than the city. There are fewer major roads so you certainly do not have to worry about hearing cars driving past your doorstep constantly and, as the population is lower, there are fewer businesses and fewer city attractions such as nightclubs, restaurants and bars so you are much less likely to be woken up at night by any noise from other people. Indeed, the worst ‘noise pollution’ that you ever experience may be the sound of your neighbour’s lawn being mown.

A Safer Place to Live

The countryside is also generally a safer place to live and this is, again, related to the lower population. Crime in the countryside tends to be much less than in major towns and cities, giving you peace of mind both for yourself and for any children you are raising.
