Choosing a New Bath for Your Bathroom

September 10, 2011 by Nick Bella

For many of us those coloured bathrooms of the seventies are a distant memory. However, if you are still suffering with an avocado (or even worse, brown!) suite in your bathroom, why not think of an upgrade to something more stylish. There is no reason why bathrooms should look any less attractive than the rest of your home, and if you are a bath person, you probably want to lie in your bubbles and relax in pleasant surroundings.

There are many different kinds of baths available now, so it is important to evaluate the space you have available before getting carried away looking at different designs or whirlpool or spa baths! The latter, of course, are ideal for complete relaxation, and many people choose to just upgrade their bath to one of these, rather than redoing their whole bathroom. Hydrotherapy baths are also great for those with back, bone and muscular problems, as well as those suffering from stress.

If you are just looking for a stylish bathroom suite, without the added features of a whirlpool or hydrotherapy bath, roll top baths have made a huge comeback in recent years. Adding a retro feel to your bathroom through their Victorian-style design, a roll top bath is also great if you are keen on spending your bathtime à deux, as the taps are often in the middle. Another style of roll top bath includes a higher back, making for a more comfortable and relaxing soak.

A corner bath is perfect for unusually shaped bathrooms, as it doesn’t require the long wall that a traditional rectangular bath would and can save you some space. As with any other bath though, always make sure that you have enough space around it for getting out comfortably without knocking yourself out on the washbasin!
